World Paper Bag Day

George Bernard Shaw said, “Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.”

It's a high time now we realize that we need to change ourselves. It’s time to take the real pledge to save our Earth. One of the most pressing environmental issues is production and usage of plastic products especially plastic bags which we need to eliminate from our lives.

The adverse impacts of plastic bags on the environment have led to the use of paper bags. World Paper Bag Day  is celebrated world wide on July 12 every year. It is celebrated on this day to make the citizens aware of the pollution caused due to plastic and the serious threat that it poses to the natural environment. Environment is no one's property to destroy; it's everyone's duty to protect.  Plastic waste takes thousands of years to decompose. Therefore, it is important to understand the ill effects of single-use plastic bags. This day is celebrated to confirm the much-needed daily use of paper bags over plastic bags, which evidently came in handy for carrying our groceries and stuff for a very long time, to the gross damage of our environment. 12th July is a day to spread awareness about using paper bags instead of plastic bags.

Paper bags are extremely important as these bags are reusable, recyclable and biodegradable and at the same time environment friendly. Every year our students  at STEM World School take initiative of making ‘paper bags' as one of their craft activities using old newspapers. We encourage our students in the habit of recycling by teaching them how to make paper bags and making them aware of the threat of plastic bags to the environment. Our school's prime objective behind this is to hit the right spot in an individual’s mind and make them more conscious of this threat and teach them how it can be controlled. On this note let us take a pledge to prevent pollution and protect our nature.
